 I have been practicing ophthalmic and corneal surgery for over 26 years and find the field more inspiring and gratifying than ever. I particularly enjoy working with so many wonderful patients over the years and getting to know them and their families. In the last 15 years, I have focused my practice on laser refractive surgery and have been fortunate to be among the first group of surgeons in the world to perform laser vision correction in 1989.
I have participated in some of the original research and clinical trials on excimer laser vision correction. I have been active in teaching, writing articles and a laser refractive surgery textbook, serving as a consultant to the laser industry, and sharing ideas with colleagues nationally and internationally. Having been elected by leading refractive surgery colleagues around the world to serve as a Director of the International Society for Refractive Surgery, I have made a number of friendships with my international colleagues who I continue to learn from. I have been a member of the refractive practice guidelines committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as on the medical advisory board for AMO/VISX, one of the leading companies in the field of excimer lasers and vision correction. As a result of this involvement, I have had a chance to learn the most up to date methods in this rapidly changing field from the leaders in this dynamic field here and abroad. |
